1. Help Others! It is a great feeling when you see a smile on someone else’s face! Whether you give them a compliment or help someone pick up a dropped wallet, our brain reacts in a positive way when we help others. Helping others doesn’t have to mean that you sacrifice for others; it can simply mean being friendly. Studies have proven that it can even boost your mood!
2. Eat less sugar! We all love candy and its many flavors, but have you realized that you only enjoy candy in the moment? We often forget that our stomach pain and fatigue is a direct result of consuming sugar from candies! It’s important that we respect our bodies. Self-respect is important if we want improved self-esteem. If you eliminate foods that do more harm than good, it can help boost your self-esteem in many ways from brain function to body weight.
3. Find what you are passionate about! Don’t doze off in class, pay attention! That is the best way to find what you are or are not passionate about. Once discovered, you can spend lots of quality time building your skills within something you love. Sports, academics, and art is something many people are passionate about.
4. Surround yourself with positive energy. It is normal for friends to pick on one another, but when is it too much? If there is someone that is constantly putting you down and making you feel worthless, then you should tell them how you feel. If that doesn’t work, then you best start avoiding them and stop being friendly with them altogether. It’s important to create an environment that supports happiness. By maintaining or searching for friendships with a positive energy will ultimately lead to a happier more positive you!
5. Focus on what you can change, do not dwell on what you cannot. Set little goals for yourself on how you can improve your daily lifestyle and look. If you keep thinking of past failures and mistakes you’ve made, then you will not grow past them.
